Why the Mets should sign Kolten Wong and Jackie Bradley Jr

It is easy to see that the Mets got better by acquiring Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco. The Mets now need to continue improving their defense and bullpen.

With a pojected payroll around $179MM per Roster Resource at the moment, that gives them $21-$26MM to spend and stay $5-$10MM under the luxury tax. They can go after BOTH Kolten Wong and Jackie Bradley Jr for about $8MM each to vastly improve their defense. With Wong in the mix, Jeff McNeil can become a super utility since he is average to slightly above average in the field. All of Dominic Smith, Pete Alonso and JD Davis are slightly to below average in the field per DRS (with Davis being the weakest). A playing time rotation would be created with Wong, McNeil, Davis, Smith and Alonso. If the DH returns to the NL (which I do not think it will) the rotation is no longer needed. Adding Wong to the lineup does make them lefty heavy, but the rest of the NL East only has 4 projected left handed starting pitchers (20%). The Mets could then trade Brandon Nimmo and save $4MM for relief help or spend up to $10MM in the market while staying below the luxury tax.
